POSITION OVERVIEW

REPORTS TO:
OPTIONS Program Director

PRIMARY DUTY:
The Community Education Coordinator (CEC) is a position of Christian ministry and fulfills a key role of establishing and maintaining community education services as part of Inspire Youth Services Community Education Program (CEP). Under the supervision of the Options Director, and in coordination with key Inspire Youth Services (IYS) team members, the CEC is responsible to support youth in making informed decisions regarding healthy relationships and sexual health, and educate the community on how to understand and create healthy boundaries for youth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Programming (70%)
  1. Prepare program material, conduct and oversee presentations, and ensure accurate record keeping
  2. Engage with the public to facilitate the CEP, provide resources, and increase mutual understanding
  3. Select, supervise, and oversee CEP staff and volunteers
  4. Provide resources and training to MYU and YFC personnel on topics related to the CEP
  5. Emphasize continued personal learning to remain current on topics related to the CEP
Personal wholeness & spiritual development (20%)
  1. Build and maintain personal spiritual vitality, including time dedicated to prayer, Bible study, periodic retreats & receiving spiritual mentoring.
  2. Participate in PED days twice per year.
  3. Pursue ongoing personal & professional learning.
Partnership Development (10%)
  1. Build and maintain a personal prayer support base.
  2. Contribute to organizational communications and fundraising partnership efforts.
Administration & Support (10%)
  1. Provide support to other ministry areas when necessary.
  2. Ensure all expenses and reports are submitted monthly.

To fulfill these responsibilities, the Community Education Coordinator will be based at the Chateauguay Ministry Centre, their home, as well as other locations off-site as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Expresses full agreement with Montreal Youth Unlimited’s Statement of Faith and Community Covenant
  • Holds, or is willing to obtain competency and/or certification in applicable areas of youth development and sexual and reproductive health

Communication: Excellent communication skills to relate to all sectors of the health professional community, general public, churches, clients and family as a representative of MYU and IYS

Administration: Capacity to effectively administer and coordinate the Community Education Program

Objective: Takes action to intentionally minimize the potential influence of personal values, beliefs and positional power on youth and participants

Flexible: Recognize how to adapt care to various unique learner needs and backgrounds

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES


Have previous experience working with youth/young adults

Exhibit excellent computer skills; website design and maintenance, social media posting, online client marketing and program promotion

Compensation

$19.00 - $21.00 per hour
